Considerations for laser cut gaskets. Drawing templates are not currently available for this material. All settings noted use the default resolution which is 500 or 600 depending on the make of your laser system. The following are suggested laser cutter configuration settings for various materials.
Laser cutting rubber or elastomeric materials often produces slightly charred melted or burnt edges. If you have other settings you d like to suggest please send an email to design help ncsu edu with the details. If a trodat stamp is being used simply select it from the list. Laser engraving or cutting rubber or polymer can possibly ignite the material.
Adjust speed and power settings as needed. Observe the following precautions. Enter the size of the stamp you intend on engraving. Use your machine s air assist mode while engraving.
Power settings that are too high can melt and distort many materials. If you would like to use silicon rubber draft your file so that your art board matches the standard sheet size of 900mm x 600mm. See the drawing guidelines for more on setting up a file for laser cutting engraving. Depending on the application material and tolerance needed this may or may not be acceptable.
